About GrandWilf Cavies, How it started and where the cavies live
Throughout my website there are wonderful photos of my pigs taken by the incredibly talented Matha Fardoe, please find a link to her website on the 'Contact etc' page, her work is well worth looking at and I would highly reccommend her for photoshoots of your pets!
How did it all Start?
I've always been animal orientated, before I was born my mum held her guineapig on her pregnant belly, I think somehow it engraved cavies into my 'being' lol. As a child I always had pet guineas, first was Boris, followed by Patches, then Herbie and Gurgie, next was Sugar and Cookie and finally George Albert and Felicity Jasmine, very closely followed by Jacob William and Rodger Edward. George and Felicity were my first ever 'breeding pair', however, George didn't seem to realise this and never actually 'worked'. I started researching guinea pig breeds and searching sales pages and the rest, as they say, is history!
My first 'stud' of pigs was a small set up in my bedroom(which they shared with 3 lizards, 5 toads, numerous land snails, fish, a tarantula and a snake, oh and me of course!) The guinea-empire quickly expanded to one shed, which expanded to two sheds, which is where I am today! *photo shows my early 'stud' in my bedroom*

What Does GrandWilf Mean?
GrandWilf was my great-grandad (GreatGrandadWilfred was just too long!)
I cherish fond memories of GrandWilf, and often wish he could still be here, there are so many questions left un-asked, so many people he did not meet and many plans left unfulfilled. I sorely regret not making more of the time that was handed to us.
When GrandWilf passed away I inherited some money, it was this money that enabled me to purchase my sheds and hutches and form the very basis of my stud. When it came to deciding on a 'stud name' it seemed befitting to choose 'GrandWilf Cavies' in honour of the wonderful gentleman whom made it all possible.
Deepest Thanks to GrandWilf,
We all still Love and Miss you, R.I.P and God Bless xxx

Where do you keep THAT MANY guineapigs?
Most of my piggy-children live in a custom built shed on the back yard, but there is also a large hutch outside for the retirement home and 5 hutches in my bedroom!
The shed contains purpose built hutches, including corner hutches; these were all built by Rons Runs, whom I would highly recommend! My shed could hold approximately 90 adult pigs at maximum capacity, but it has never got far above 50(thank heavens!) The cleaning out of even 40 pigs is bad enough!
